History of Bogor
Bogor is a well known city in Indonesia. The city has a long history, and quite interesting to learn. Long ago, the city of Bogor has the name "Pakuan". Pakuan, was the capital of the kingdom Pajajaran. Since its surrender of power to the Kingdom of Banten and Cirebon (Year 1579), by Maulana Yusuf (the King of of Banten at the time), its name changed to Bogor. Many versions of this history because it's hard to find authentic evidence of regarding the change of name from Pakuan to Bogor.
Some say that the Bogor derived from Bokor, bokor means the palm tree. Second opinion, Bogor name comes from the word meaning cow-Baqara, with the reason because in the Botanical Gardens there is a statue of a cow, (even though cow statues is a history of Baranang Siang, a never published history) The third opinion declared, Bogor name from the word "bokor",ie place / container made of copper metal . Some even say that, Bogor name is, one utterance by the Sundanese, because the Dutch gave the name to Buitenzorg palace. Nevertheless, whatever its name, Bogor has now become a big city (for the size of Indonesia). While Pakuan is the name of authentic, because it is significantly evidence of the coronation of Prabu Siliwangi, as the King of Pajajaran. Appointment Prabu Siliwangi, as the coronation the King of Pajajaran recorded on June 3, 1482, which in turn, used as the anniversary day of Bogor.
